Paddle Fan / Ceiling Fan installation:
The first thing to do is make sure you have a proper fan box in the ceiling before you mount a fan. If you are not sure, call a qualified electrician. (407-834-4032)
Note: Most ceiling boxes are not intended for the weight and movement of a fan and will give way over time
Your fan should be mounted so the blades clear the floor by a minimum of 7 feet. If you have vaulted or cathedral style ceilings you will require a down-rod that is in most cases sold separately. The length of the down-rod will depend on the ceiling height. If you have high ceilings you may want to have all the controls at the switch or a remote function fan so you do not need long pull chains.
The steps for proper mounting of your paddle fan /ceiling fan:
First the existing light and junction box have to be removed (or just the light fixture if you have an existing approved fan box).
Next is the mounting of the fan and light fixture (if you have a light fixture)
In most cases the fan motor is installed and hooked up before the blades go on
The fan should be installed in accordance to the manufacturer’s directions, making sure all the parts are tight.
Next we do the testing making sure everything works and there is not excessive wobble. If there is a wobble in the fan, they can normally be balanced (most fans come with a balance kit)
